The three Artxanda Tunnels are already a reality, which contribute to the urban expansion of Bilbao and provide easy access to Asua Valley.

The tunnels enable quick and easy travel from Bilbao's city centre to the international airport and to the new Txorierri corridor. This route runs from the Getxo coastline to the A-8 motorway in Erletxe, accessed on the north side of Mount Artxanda, near the mouth of the tunnels at Txorierri.

Travel is now also easier for the newly developed residential districts in the areas of Getxo, Plentzia and throughout the North-East of the Province of Bizkaia.

Traffic entering or leaving the Begoña district now uses the La Salve-Ugasko tunnel instead of circulating along Alameda Mazarredo (in front of the Guggenheim Museum) and the Deusto Bridge.
