While working on the Artxanda Tunnels, special attention was drawn to following aspects: regard to road safety materials, amelioration of environmental
impact and minimizing acoustic effects once the tunnels are operational.
As far as correcting the visual
impact of the areas affected by earth moving, the concessionaire
has worked on an area of 230,000 sq. metres of surface, using the latest
seeding and slope protection techniques.
In terms of acoustic impact,
for the Artxanda Tunnels, two types of measures have been adopted: double glazing
windows and openings in houses that might be affected by the new
traffic, and acoustic barriers have been installed in order to prevent sound propagation.
